- an initiative to contribute with coherence in Scandinavia and Europe
Would you like to spend several months in a charming course location in peaceful Denmark, doing programme morning and evening with other Sidhas from around the world, having access to facilities making it possible to uphold an income, and becoming more familiar with the theoretical and practical aspects of Maharishi’s knowledge? Then, ‘A Taste of Sidhaland’ is worth considering for a shorter or longer period.
Dear Sidha,
This is to inform you about a new project that unfolds at a time when our part of the world needs it most: Denmark is laying the foundation for a Sidhaland. It is taking place at a beautiful location in Havnsø, where the Danish Folkhighschool for the Development of Consciousness was housed for twelve years.
As we know, a Sidhaland is a concept that Maharishi introduced in the early eighties with the aim of making it possible for Sidhas to live together under circumstances where they could comfortably carry out their programme together in a group and at the same time maintain an income-generating job. Since then, we have seen large projects flourish around the world, such as Fairfield in the USA and Skelmersdale and Rendlesham in England along with smaller Sidha communities in other countries such as Lelystad near Amsterdam and several in South America and Asia. In all places, the participants have experienced a significant boost in their own development both in terms of consciousness and in the form of a more satisfying private and working life.
Welcome to cosy Havnsø, a spot well suited for life with
full focus on your programme and an evolutionary life style
Havnsø is a traditional, tranquil harbour village at the bottom of Sejerø Bay on the west coast of Sjælland – the island, which on the east coast holds Copenhagen (the largest metropolis in Scandinavia), and also is home to half of the Danish population. From Havnsø, there are ferry connections to two small islands. Maharishi Academy for the Development of Consciousness is located in the small, old part of the village less than 100 meters from the ocean to the north and close to the charming harbour with its small marina, which offers opportunities for sailing or kayaking in docile waters. The surroundings are beautiful and captivating with lots of sea-birds, occasional seals, and other marine life as well as nice bathing options. There are also good opportunities for short and long excursions such as visits to the islands of Nekselø and Sejerø with their own very special atmosphere. The towns of Kalundborg and Holbæk are half an hour's drive away, and Copenhagen with its rich culture is also within easy reach by car or public transport.
In short, the project in Havnsø will offer accommodation in one of the 30 former hotel rooms (most of which have an exceptionally scenic sea view) as well as access to shared facilities such as a flying-room, lecture hall, living rooms, dining hall, kitchen, office space, etc. There will be fixed routines for group flying, main meals and teaching sessions; and there will be the opportunity to carry out an income-generating activity in a setup that you organise according to your own needs.
How to remain on friendly terms with your piggy-bank
while staying in the Havnsø Academy for an extended period
Most Sidhalands today are made up of single houses or apartment buildings built according to Sthapatyavedic principles (Vastu), which the participants have financed themselves. In Havnsø, the house is not built according to Vastu principles; but as a first step, the main north entrance is in the process of being replaced by one facing precisely east, which is one of the most important Vastu requirements for a building to be acceptable for living and working. The dwellings are single rooms of approximately 13 sqm. supplemented by a private bathroom and toilet furnished in a building from 2002 with good soundproofing. Meals are generally shared and prepared from organic ingredients according to Ayurvedic principles. There are a number of common rooms and thus many opportunities for different activities. The building also houses a small, fully equipped Panchakarma clinic.
The total cost for the participants, which covers food, accommodation, teaching, use of flying-rooms, etc., will be DKK 11,000 (EUR 1,500) per month. This is considerably less than the average total cost of living in a private house or even an apartment and lower than what is officially considered the average cost of living for a single person in the country side of Denmark. Although many may have the finances to be able to cover this expense, there will also be some who need an extra income. Therefore, the plan is to set up a separate office space with workstations for those who need to maintain an income through paid work or as self-employed, to do so in comfortable, undisturbed surroundings. If part-time work can be found in the immediate vicinity that fits in with the daily routines of the project, this is of course also a way to secure an extra income (needs work permit). It may also be a solution for some that Sidhas who have time, but lack financial resources, can get support from other Meditators and Sidhas who are unable to participate in the course themselves. Finally, Sidhas who are participating in the project and have a slightly larger business may possibly employ other course participants.
A booster for faster evolution and a preparation for being in a permanent group
The project in Havnsø has been named ‘A Taste of Sidhaland’ because participation for many may be a spring-board to later move to a full-scale Sidhaland in Denmark or abroad. For others it may turn out to be a long-term solution; and if the opportunity arises, the project may even at some point relocate to another, larger piece of land or fuse with a standard Sidhaland in Denmark or abroad. A Taste of Sidhaland takes the form of a course that you participate in over an extended period of months or years. Daily classroom sessions and meetings are included as an integrated element, where you have the opportunity to discuss your programme experiences with the TM-Sidhi Administrators. You can also gain detailed knowledge about how to get your own Vastu home or learn how you get the most out of living in a community with other Sidhas. Individually and in groups, there will be the opportunity to familiarize yourself with many other aspects of Maharishi Vedic Science and thus possibly begin training as a teacher, therapist or adviser in one of these subjects. As Maharishi has emphasized, it is essential for one's meditation experiences that there is also a continuous development in the intellectual understanding of evolution. This we can gain systematically from the rich treasury of Vedic knowledge that Maharishi gathered and made available in his Vedic Science in the form of lectures, courses, and books.
The most important purpose of the project is to create optimal conditions for the regular group practice of the TM-Sidhi programme; and all other activities are planned with this in mind, so that one can be well-rested and in good balance for each and every programme. Also, the programme itself can, if needed, be gradually adjusted to be completely optimal for each participant.
The world is currently going through a transformation that many experience as incomprehensible and worrying. The more we can increase support for the growth of individual and collective consciousness, the easier and faster will the transition be to the brighter future that Maharishi foresaw for the world. Participating in A Taste of Sidhaland in Havnsø is therefore one of the best things we can do for our country and continent, while at the same time bringing a whole new dimension into our own lives. The course is planned to start Saturday, 12 September 2026.
